Our history

​Our milling operation was founded in the 1960’s, when Glen Zimmerman began a feed dealership on his farm southeast of Forrest, Illinois. With limited resources, Glen used ingenuity and hard work to establish the enterprise and provide opportunity for contract growers in the area. The family, consisting of five boys and one girl, inspired and motivated his efforts. Through the years times have changed, but Glen’s faith, integrity, soft spoken ways and gentle example became the motto to the family as he worked with his children and then grandchildren. 

In 1984, Glen provided opportunity for his two youngest sons, Dennis and Jeff, to purchase the feed milling business, establishing Zimmerman Bros. Feed & Grain. Nutri-Tech Quality Feed was established in 1988, providing the customers greater value through locally manufactured feed. The brothers focused on nurturing the traditional values that Glen taught them of integrity and dependability, building lasting relationships that continue today. During this time, the grain elevator portion of the business was born providing a competitive market for the local grain farmers. 

As production agriculture modernized, the grain and feed business grew. Local corn and soybean production increased, as well as the need for animal feed production in our local area. In 2006 Dennis sold his portion to Jeff and in the years following, Jeff’s four boys became involved in the business. Each one in turn has brought their individual strengths and talents to the company. 

We have been blessed to have worked alongside Grandpa Glen, learning the value of faith and integrity, a foundation to teach our children and grandchildren.
